Day Retreats

Empowered Transitions:
A Day of Self-Care for Women in Menopause

10am-5pm Sunday 29 September 2024, Ballymaloe Grainstore, Shanagarry

These Day Retreats are specifically tailored to suit women at any stage of the menopause. Even before you think you may have any symptoms, this is an opportunity to learn what to look out for, how to prepare and what measures you can take now to prevent some of the common symptoms that occur at this life stage for all women.

These retreat days are about coming together as a group, having a safe space to discuss individual experiences, to learn from and support each other.

I started running these massively popular Day Retreats in 2023 at a time when I was personally navigating the start of my own menopause. Each time we have had a beautifully warm, open and supportive group of women, at various stages of menopause and we have learned so much from each other.

What happens on the retreat?

  • We generally start the day with introductions and group discussion around people's experiences of peri-menopause, menopause and post-menopause.

  • Then I take you through some yoga-based movement exercises that you can do at home to maintain your physical health and wellbeing.

  • After a healthy (but always delicious!) lunch, we will go outside for a walk to get some fresh air, enjoy the surroundings and let our food digest.

  • After lunch, there will be an opportunity for some more discussion, questions and ‘hopefully’ answers.

  • This will be followed by some restorative yoga, where we find ease and comfort in supported yoga poses and learn to slow down and soothe our nervous systems.

  • Finishing with ‘yoga nidra’, which is a kind of guided meditation, which we will do lying comfortably and restfully.

  • At the September event I will be joined by Melanie O'Driscoll who will treat us to a healing Soundbath.

When and where does it take place?

The next Day Retreats takes place on Sunday 29th September at the gorgeous Ballymaloe Grainstore, near Shanagarry in East Cork.  Part of the well known Ballymaloe estate, the Grainstore is a beautiful bright spacious venue.  The grounds offer lots of space for us to roam and explore in the afternoon as we let our yummy lunch settle. We start at 10am and finish at 5pm giving us plenty of time to chat, learn, move our bodies and most importantly 'relax'!

How many places are available?

Numbers limited to 25 at the Grainstore.

How much does it cost?

The cost for the day is €98, which includes healthy snacks on arrival, instruction, handouts, lunch and teas & coffees and Sound healing session.
