Self Care for women during the Menopause
The Well Centre, Ballintubber, Near Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork
10am-5pm Sunday 19th November 2023
These Day Retreats are specifically tailored to suit women at any stage of the menopause. Even before you think you may have any symptoms, this is an opportunity to learn what to look out for, how to prepare and what measures you can take now to prevent some of the common symptoms that occur at this life stage for all women.
These retreat days are about coming together as a group, having a safe space to discuss individual experiences, to learn from and support each other.
Our first Day Retreat on 30 April 2023 was a huge success. We had a beautifully warm, open and supportive group of women, at various stages of menopause and we learned so much from each other.
I will be joined on the next Day Retreat by Joanne Corbett a registered Dietitian currently completing a masters degree in Mindfulness with University College Cork (what a perfect addition!).
What happens on the retreat?
We will start the day with a talk to explain the physiological changes that take place during peri-menopause, menopause and post-menopause.
Then I will be taking you through some yoga-based movement exercises that you can do at home to maintain your physical health and wellbeing.
After a healthy (but always delicious!) lunch, we will go outside for a walk to get some fresh air, enjoy the surroundings and let our food digest.
After lunch, there will be an opportunity for some more discussion, questions and ‘hopefully’ answers.
This will be followed by some restorative yoga, where we find ease and comfort in supported yoga poses and learn to slow down and be still.
Finishing with ‘yoga nidra’, which is a kind of guided meditation, which we will do lying comfortably and restfully.
When and where does it take place?
The second in this series of Day Retreats will take place from 10am-5pm on Sunday 19 November at the Well Centre, near Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork. Hidden away within a walled garden on an inlet of Cork Harbour, it really feels like getting away without having to travel too far (from my home at least!).
How many places are available?
There are just 11 places on this retreat.
How much does it cost?
The cost for the day is €80, which includes instruction, handouts, lunch and teas & coffees.
